Penn State ARL is proud to announce its pivotal role in advancing strategic data management for additive manufacturing (AM) through its selection as a winner in the America Makes “Proliferation of AM Material Datasets” Project Call. This prestigious recognition comes with a share of the $5.75 million in funding dedicated to enhancing the availability and utility of AM material datasets.
Penn State ARL’s project seeks to address the critical need for comprehensive and standardized AM datasets. By defining a structure for America Makes project datasets, the initiative aims to increase data findability and accessibility within the community membership and eventually, across the industry. The team is leveraging a community consensus-driven AM data model as the foundation for the data structure, with the intent of expanding the model to new domains relevant to America Makes projects. The project specifically targets the formatting of statistically-significant AM datasets which will be hosted on the America Makes CORE data repository, which will provide its membership with access to valuable data.
Penn State ARL’s involvement in this project underscores its commitment to leading the charge in strategic data management and innovation in the field of additive manufacturing.
